Chapter 4

______________________________

Chirag Ranawat

Today is my doll's birthday. Yes, my doll — my Pari Malhotra. I love my doll. I will wish her, but she doesn’t know it’s me. I always wish her. I wished her exactly at 12 AM, just like every year. And like every year, I didn’t get a reply. She didn’t even open the message.

This year, I want to see her — but I don’t know how. Yes, I’m powerful, but when it comes to her, her dad and her two brothers are very powerful.

My thoughts were broken by my friend Dhruv Shekhawat.

“Chirag, I never asked you — why doesn’t the Malhotra family let her out?”

Chirag said, “Is that important to know right now? First, give me an idea of how I can see her. Later, I’ll tell you.”

Dhruv was stubborn. “Why should I give you an idea when you won’t answer my question?”

Chirag replied, “When you can’t give me an idea, what will you do after knowing the answer to your question? Will you solve the problem?”

Dhruv said, “Tell me the answer, then I’ll think whether I should give an idea or not.”

Chirag said, “Okay, listen. I’ll tell you.”

Chirag:

When I was three years old, my Pari was born. You know, Dhruv, she looked like a doll. She was a doll — she is a doll.

Madhav Malhotra is my Badi Ma’s younger brother. After Pari turned one, suddenly my parents and my Bade Papa and Bade Mama stopped going to Malhotra Family members. They started to hate each other. I didn’t know anything at that time, but as the years went by, I thought I’d forget her. But I couldn’t. I couldn't forget my doll. And I couldn't see her either.

When I was 18, my Dadu — Jairaj Ranawat — was unwell, and I didn’t leave his side for even a second. You know what he told me before he died?

He said, “Chirag, you must protect Pari.”

I told him, “But Dadu, she’s our enemy’s daughter. How can I protect her?”

But Dadu said, “The enmity between our families started because of your Bade Papa.

Mahendra Ranawat wanted Malhotra’s land, their business shares, schools, and colleges — all of which now are in Pari’s name. He did many things to get it, but he couldn’t. That’s when the enmity began.”

You know, Madhav had a son. But he died. No one knows the exact reason, but the news spread that the Ranawat family was behind it. But we weren’t, Even Madhav and Rukmini know that. Still, the enmity continued.

Pari isn’t living the life she wants. She has everything — but not the freedom to live as she wishes.

And do you know, My Bade Papa also wants me to marry Pari — so he can take her business shares. Her life is in danger. That’s why Madhav and his family won’t let her out. They’re afraid of losing her.

I asked Dadu, “Who is trying to harm Pari?” But before he could answer… he died.

After all that, I kept thinking about everything he said.

When I was 20, I saw Pari. You know where? At an event — with her family. My heart skipped a beat when I saw her. She was beautiful. My doll is so beautiful.

But she didn’t even see me.

After the Malhotras saw the Ranawat family there, they left. I didn’t see her again.

But that day… I felt it. She’s too innocent for this world. I wanted to protect her — from the world and from my own family.

Yes, I can go against my family for her.

And Dhruv, you know one more thing? Pari is the weakness of the Malhotra family. Only a few relatives — including some from the Ranawat side — even know that Madhav Malhotra has a daughter. Madhav, Veer, and Rudra have hidden every detail about Pari. It’s not possible for anyone to find out about her.

The Malhotras are hiding her to protect her.

And the last time I saw her, when I was 20 — that’s when I truly fell in love with her. And I decided: I’ll protect her. Always.

-------------------------------------------------

Dhruv said, “Then marry her, Chirag. If you two get married, your Bade Papa gets the Malhotra business shares, the enmity between the families ends, and Pari will be safe.”

Chirag replied, “No, Dhruv. "Even if I marry Pari, I won’t let my Bade Papa lay a finger on a single Malhotra share. But if Pari, out of her own will, decides to give away the business shares, the schools and colleges in her name, or even parts of the Malhotra land — then that’s her choice. But if she doesn’t want to give them, no one has the right to force her. Not even me. What’s hers is hers."

“And beyond the Ranawat family,” Chirag continued, “there are others trying to harm Pari. That’s why the Malhotras have kept her hidden. And Pari herself doesn’t even know that her life is in danger.”

“If I want to marry Pari, I’ll have to plan everything. Do you think her family would ever agree to this marriage? No, Dhruv. So, I have to plan carefully.”

Dhruv said, “Yeah, even I feel the same. I mean, how could your future father-in-law give his daughter to an irresponsible guy like you?”

Chirag said, “Irresponsible?! After everything I just told you, that’s what you have to say?”

“Yes, irresponsible!” Dhruv laughed. “You didn’t even ask your friend if he wanted coffee, breakfast, tea, or juice. You didn’t let me eat! You only talk about Pari!”

Chirag sighed, “Enough, Dhruv. Don’t start your drama. Tell me what you want to eat.”

He called his assistant and said, “Bring us something to eat.”

Dhruv said again, “See, Chirag? You didn’t even ask me what I want to eat. But I’m supposed to ask you what your problem is and listen to your story?”

Chirag groaned, “Stop it, Dhruv. Enough! First, give me an idea to meet my Pari today. If you don’t, then I won’t let you eat even after the food arrives.”
